WATCH: American drone strike kills 10 Afghan Civilians
After a terrorist on Kabul airport killed 13 American soldiers, a Biden-ordered drone strike killed 10 Afghan civilians, including 7 children
This is one of two things Biden did very wrong in Afghanistan in 2021, and 10 innocent civilians, including 7 children, died as a result.
After ISIS-K attacked Kabul airport, killing 175 people, including 13 American soldiers, President Biden felt the need to act. He’d already been dragged through the media because he ended a war that should’ve been finished 19 years before.
Of course, the war was begun to get the people who attacked America on 9/11. Even me, an anti-war man to my core, understands this. There was no way that America could respond to 9/11 without at least getting those who orchestrated the attack. This means getting al-Qaeda. The Taliban, for their many wrongs, didn’t orchestrate the attack, although they perhaps didn’t go after the terrorist group strongly enough, so they probably didn’t need to be attacked.
The Taliban offered Osama Bin Laden in 2001 to the United States. That is a deal that the Bush administration would have taken if they were genuine in only wanting war to get back at those who caused 9/11 to happen. Not long after, the Taliban offered to surrender, which would have resulted in the end of that organization and they would have no chance of being in charge now. Again, the Bush administration didn’t take this deal that they obviously should have.
During the war, the Americans instated a fake Afghan government with fuck all popular support with a deeply corrupt leader who had zero interest in the wellbeing of his people.
On top of this, there were over 71,000 civilians and 20,722 American soldiers killed in the war. More than 6 times as many people died trying to avenge 9/11 than were killed on that day, and they took at least 71,000 innocent lives too many in the aim to do this.
All of this is to say that the war was a bad idea from the start. They should have accepted the deals, imprison the al-Qaeda and senior Taliban members for life, and then move on. All this additional suffering was unnecessary.
Last year, Joe Biden finally kept the promise that he had originally made in 2008 as part of the Obama administration and ended the war, 20 years too late.
Inevitably, the fake, house of cards government collapsed. Their leaders and their military fled, the former group with hundreds of millions of dollars and left their people to fend for themselves. The Taliban took over once again, primarily because George Bush refused to allow the Taliban to conditionally surrender 20 years ago. Good job George.
Now, because the media is funded in part by defense contractors such as Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, and all their guests during this period either had stock in these companies or sit on their boards, they massively criticized Biden for withdrawing. They pretended to care about the women & girls of Afghanistan, despite the fact that these people are all support the allyship with Saudi Arabia, who are just as bad on women’s rights as the Taliban are.
However, after ISIS-K, who are at war with the Taliban, bombed the Kabul airport, killing civilians, US service members and Taliban operators, there were big calls to stay in the country. Think about the logic here: people died in Afghanistan, so we should send more people to fight in Afghanistan, instead of taking them out of the place where they might - and some have - tragically died.
Biden didn’t want to do this complete U-turn, but, because he is a neocon at heart, he felt the need to look ‘tough of terror’, and authorized a drone strike, the video of which is in the tweet at the top of the article, in which the target was actually a charity worker, and 9 other people died, including 7 children. A family and their home was destroyed. This is not only unjustifiable, but also a war crime. If the Geneva convention was enforced, Biden would be hung in the Hague for this, as would every general, military commander and President who authorized strikes similar to this one.
Sources on the ground in Afghanistan were saying from the moment that this strike happened that the target had nothing to do with the ISIS-K attack on the airport. They were dismissed, until the New York Times did good journalism for the first time in forever and released the information proving this target to be nothing like an ISIS affiliate. Then, they obtained this video, in another show of good journalism. This proves that these organizations are capable of doing a good job that harm the military industrial complex, but they mostly just don’t choose to.
This drone strike that hit civilians was not, in any way whatsoever, a one off. In fact, 90% of those who died from American drone strikes were civilians. Instead of jailing the people who caused this horrific number of deaths, we jailed the guy who told us these facts.
I know that some will, correctly, say that drone strikes are the most accurate way for us to go after the terrorists who harm the potential safety of our planet. That is true. However, if ‘success’ is killing the terrorists and ‘failure’ is killing innocent civilians, and you have a 90% failure rate, maybe you should quit trying to go for success. Maybe you should give up on killing people. That might just be a good idea.
Of course, we would be remiss to talk about Afghan situation if we didn’t mention the devastating sanctions that Biden has imposed on the country since the Taliban took over.
The fake, American-instated government kept all of their assets in American banks, and then once the Taliban took over those assets were frozen. That’s about 4-5 billion dollars taken off the government. On top of that there is a massive drought currently in the country. As a result, 23 million of the 39 million people in Afghanistan are facing starvation. Over a million are facing malnutrition. Hospitals have no equipment, and now more than ever they are reliant on charity. And it’s all so that Joe Biden can try to defeat the talking point that he’s soft on the Taliban. If I had a choice between some people thinking I’m soft on a heinous organization or actively killing over a million people, I know that without a doubt I would choose the first option. Joe Biden would choose to kill over a million people so that he would get a couple of extra points in the polls. This man, much like the rest of the military industrial complex, is actually a psychopath.
Credit to the New York Times for forcing the release of this video, and we need a thorough cleansing of Washington to do our best to make sure that nobody needlessly dies in a war, be it in the Middle East or Taiwan or Ukraine. Nobody should die because Joe Biden, or any other President, wants to look tough. Nobody should die so Raytheon and Lockheed Martin and Boeing can line their pockets.
